AIBILI is Critical’s partner for the development of Retmarker and strategic partner for Critical’s Vision Business Unit. AIBILI was founded by Professor Cunha-Vaz, a renowned Ophthalmologist.

AIBILI has also contributed towards the scientific validation of the technology which was initially developed in the Centre for New Technologies for Medicine (CNTM) led by Rui Bernardes Ph.D.. In this Centre, AIBILI develops:

  • New tools for Diagnostic Imaging
  • Fluorescence measurement "in vivo"

AIBILI is a Research Technology Organisation (RTO) in the Health Market dedicated to help the development of new products for health imaging, pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.

    AIBILI also performs:
  • Clinical Trials in Diabetic Retinopathy, Age-Related Macular Degeneration, Glaucoma, in accordance with ICH Good Clinical Practice Guidelines
  • Bioavailability Studies in Physical-Chemical Testing (The CEB - AIBILI is certified by INFARMED for Physical-Chemical Testing performing Bioavailability/Bioequivalence Studies and Pharmacokinetic Studies in compliance with the OECD Principles of Good Laboratory Practice)
  • Technology Transfer
  • Scientific information to support the decision making in healthcare policy and practice. The Health Technology Assessment Unit is a tool to ensure equity in the access to medicines and the most favourable benefit/risk and cost/effectiveness ratios in the drug use process
