Retmarker provides information to monitor the progression of retinal diseases, which are the leading causes of blindness in the Western world.
Retmarker uses image processing technology which tracks retinal changes caused by diseases such as Diabetic Retinopathy and Age-related Macular Degeneration.
The lesions caused by these diseases evolve over time, which means that strict monitoring of the progression is needed for, among other things, gathering information to help the diagnosis, the definition of treatment strategy and the evaluation of the treatment’s effectiveness.
In particular, RetmarkerC highlights differences between images over time, allowing the doctor’s analysis to be focused on what is important and to decide which additional examination will be required.
RetmarkerC is an innovative software solution that uses image processing technology and the latest medical research to detect retinal changes accurately, effectively, effortlessly. Available as a Desktop or Online version, RetmarkerC intends to be a first approach to the management of the disease, mainly in a screening context. RetmarkerC uses image processing technology wich detects retinal changes, either being haemorrhages, hard exudates, drusens or other lesions, symptoms of Retinal Diseases such as Diabetic Retinopathy and Age-related Macular Degeneration, whose development is not always easy to assess by the human eye.
RetmarkerC is currently available Online in this website. You can use the free trial to evaluate the helpfulness of the solution for your daily practice.
To use the Online version you need to be registered on the website and use the valid E-mail and password to access the proper section in the website. Afterwards you can submit retinographies (colour fundus photographs) from your patients to be automatically analyzed and you will be notified by e-mail, as soon as the new images with the differences marked are generated by RetmarkerC (a process that usually takes a couple of hours). You will be able to download the new images to enhance your further analysis and judgment.

Retinographies' Requirements
RetmarkerC works with retinographies (Colour Fundus Photographs), which are an essential tool for diagnosing retinal diseases. Retinographies are less invasive than most of other imagiology techniques (e.g. angiographies), thus they are less inconvenient to the patients. There is a trend to increase this type of widespread exams for initial screening and monitoring, further complemented by other technologies like OCT.
RetmarkerC was developed and fine-tuned to process 45° and 50° retinographies, centred on the posterior pole (field 2), mydriatic or non mydriatic.
RetMarkerC has been tested for Diabetic Retinopathy based on several datasets of around 4 images per eye during a 6 years period. Each dataset has approximately 100 different eyes under analysis.
